The Market Research Society launched the Research Heroes programme to celebrate the sector’s unsung heroes. James Bright has joined the cadre of Research Heroes 2023.
James works at BVA BDRC where he began his career in 2014. Over the years, he has taken on various responsibilities and currently focuses on lead generation, website management, and social media strategy for both the BVA BDRC Group and The BVA Family.
James was nominated because "his positive impact is an inspiration across the entire BVA family – you can only be excited to work with someone results-orientated like James! He is also instrumental to CSR and ESG initiatives, furthering important sector causes, be that through organising fundraising activities, giving-up his Saturday to offer moral support to our charity Tough Mudder team (in the rain!) or measuring our carbon footprint on the path to net zero."
What is the biggest challenge you have faced during your career?
The biggest challenge is marketing to so many different markets and sectors, all needing a different tone and approach.
What will be the next big trend or development in the research industry, and why?
I think human understanding will be critical to research. We will have an abundance of data which AI can process, but only people will be able to understand the nuances, emotions, and applications to different contexts.
Who inspires you as a researcher?
I can’t single out a single figure. Anyone can be a source of inspiration; you just need to be open to receiving it.
