GERMANY – Market research company GfK has created a global Connected Consumer Index to rank how digitally connected the populations are of 78 countries.

The index shows which countries have the most connected consumers, both overall and in terms of device detail – smartphone, tablet, mobile PC, desktop PC, wearables, smart TV, TV set-top box, video-game console, e-reader, connected car and smart home.

It also shows how connectivity has altered over the past five years.

Kevin Walsh, director of trends and forecasting at GfK, said: “As the technology markets mature, we are increasingly seeing that local country drivers are having a relatively bigger impact on connectivity growth, as opposed to global or regional trends – with consumers connecting in ever bigger numbers and different ways.”
