UK — The UK ( 44%) is beaten only by the US ( 71%) as the most desirable ‘e-destination’ for consumers to shop in outside their own country.
Germany was the third most popular choice ( 39%), based on the survey of 12,000 people worldwide.
The survey revealed that shoppers in Australia ( 74%) and Germany ( 73%) rate the UK as their preferred online shopping destination abroad, while 60% of US consumers also chose the UK.
One third of global online shoppers said they had purchased products online from retailers in other countries, with Australians the most likely to do so ( 63%), followed by Russia ( 49%) and Canada ( 48%).
The research was carried out by ORC International on behalf of technology company Pitney Bowes.
