The CQR provides tribal, state and local officials with the opportunity to request an official review of official census housing counts for potential processing errors.

Through this formal review process, the Census Bureau ensures that housing and population counts are correctly allocated to 2020 census tabulation blocks in the 50 US states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

The Census Bureau will accept CQR cases from 3rd January 2022 through to 30th June 2023, with the bureau’s deadline for providing results to impacted government units being 30th September 2023.

The 2020 census was carried out during Covid-19 restrictions, and the department has since requested increased funding to help modernise its programme ahead of the 2030 census.
