UK — Last year saw UK ad spend grow at its highest rate since 2010, with an increase of 7.5% to £20.1bn, according to new figures from the Advertising Association/ Warc Expenditure Report.
Within that, internet ad spend increased by 17.3% to £8.6bn. Mobile accounted for 78% of that growth, seeing a huge 61.1% increase to reach £2.6bn. This makes the UK the largest internet advertising market in Europe, and the third largest globally, behind the US and China.
TV ad spend grew by 7.3% to £5.3bn, with spot expenditure rising by 6.7% and video on demand rising by 20.7%.
This strong growth in the UK is expected to continue, with a rise of 5.5% forecast for both 2016 and 2017.
“The UK is the fastest-growing major advertising market in Europe, and its most successful exporter," said Tim Lefroy, chief executive of the Advertising Association. "It’s a tribute to our creativity and technical innovation.”
