UK – Almost one in 10 marketers have reported being made redundant since the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak, according to a survey from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
One in six marketers ( 17%) who completed the survey said they had been placed on furlough during the pandemic, while 9% said they had lost their jobs.
Additionally, 20% of respondents reported that they had experienced a pay cut during the pandemic and 17.5% had been made to take enforced holiday leave.
The survey was completed by 344 members of the CIM during July and August, 240 of which were from the UK.
However, 87% of respondents reported feeling either ‘confident’ or ‘very confident’ that the sector would ‘bounce back’ from the pandemic.
When asked to rank their highest priorities in coping with the current situation from a predetermined list, six in 10 respondents ranked brand reputation as the most important aspect, while only 2% ranked offering discounts and promotions as their top current priority.
