Sky’s on demand downloads up 50%

UK — Broadcaster Sky has seen the number of downloads and streams on its connected TV platform increase by almost 50% as the trend for watching non-linear TV continues.

In its quarterly results, Sky revealed that almost 2 billion download or stream requests were made by customers in 2014.

It now has 6.5 million customers connected to Sky On Demand and 5.8m registered users for mobile TV service Sky Go in the UK and Ireland.

Luke Bradley Jones, director of TV products at Sky said: “We know people want to watch TV on their terms, which is why over six million customers connect their box to broadband and get Sky On Demand. This year we’re adding even more box sets of the shows that everyone’s talking about.”
