Ofcom updates BBC tracker

Media News UK

UK – Media regulator Ofcom has made changes to its BBC performance tracker to ensure the survey remains ‘fit for purpose’.

BBC Broadcasting House

The tracker measures perception and attitudes towards the broadcaster among UK adults, and has been running annually since 2017.

Ofcom ran a consultation on the proposed changes in April, ahead of the 2020-21 wave of the research.

Among the changes, Ofcom has added new questions to understand more about people’s perceptions of the BBC and the services they use, as well as to identify lapsed and non-users more clearly.

The new questions include asking which audio streaming services people have listened to in the past three months and which TV or video service people usually turn to first when deciding on what to watch.
