GLOBAL — Online advertising spending continued to grow in the first quarter of 2012, with significant rises across all over the world, according to Nielsen’s quarterly global AdView Pulse report. Internet advertising was up by 12.1% from the same quarter last year.
Of all media types only magazines saw ad spend fall compared to Q1 of 2011. Regionally, online spend has rocketed in the emerging markets, particularly in the Middle East and Africa ( 35.2%) and Latin America ( 31.8%).
TV also appears to be growing in popularity in the Middle East and Africa, where ad spend rose by 33.8% from last year. Radio also saw increases in every region. Overall, ad spend has increased by 3.1% globally.
