GfK Asia unveils weekly Korean mobile sales tracker

KOREA— GfK Asia has started offering a weekly tracking service that keeps tabs on mobile phone sales throughout Korea.

The firm will collect sales data from retailers including telecom specialists, general electronic stores and hyper market ‘shop-in-shop’ stores.

GfK first started collecting Korean mobile phone sales data in 2004, when it provided monthly sales information for Seoul, Inchon and Kyunggi.

The new service will cover the whole country and include all types of handset, such as smart phones, and will go live this month.
