Gartner extends chief executive’s contract

US— Gene Hall has signed a new five-year deal to remain as CEO of IT industry analyst Gartner until at least 2016.

His new contract contains a clause that triggers automatic one year renewals unless either he or the company decide to terminate the agreement.

Under Hall’s leadership, Gartner posted revenue of $1.3bn and net income totalling $96.3m for 2010. At the time of reporting Hall hailed the company for achieving “record levels of new business and contract value.”

Research-related revenue was up to $865m while contract value stood at $977m – the highest in the company’s history.
