Gallup retains top research slot in Superbrands 2010

UK— Gallup has topped the list of market research firms in the latest Business Superbrands Top 500 survey, for the second year in succession.

The company, which appeared at number 54 in the overall list, led seven other research firms.

The final market research rankings (overall positions in brackets) were:

1. Gallup ( 54 )

2. Ipsos Mori ( 85 )

3. Mintel ( 160 )

4. GfK NOP ( 285 )

5. ACNielsen ( 331 )

6. TNS ( 399 )

7. Millward Brown ( 454 )

8. BMRB Omnibus ( 496 )

Microsoft was named the UK’s number one business superbrand, knocking Google off the top slot it had occupied for the previous two surveys. Fast risers on the list included BlackBerry, The Co-operative Bank, Aviva and British Airways.

The Superbrands Top 500 is chosen by a panel of experts including Paul Edwards, chairman of TNS Research International, and over 1,700 business executives across the UK. The business executives’ votes are “the culmination of an independent selection process which considers thousands of brands from over 50 sectors”.
