Ex-Nielsen president named as Thomson Reuters CEO

US – Information business Thomson Reuters has appointed former Nielsen president, Steve Hasker, as its new chief executive officer succeeding Jim Smith.

Hasker (pictured) takes on the role of president and CEO on March 15, 2020. He was previously CEO of talent agency CAA Global before that had been global president and chief operating officer of Nielsen. He has also worked for McKinsey for more than 10 years and began his career at PwC.

Smith will stay on for a transition period through 2020 and become chairman of the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

Stephane Bello, chief financial officer, will also step down from his role which will be filled by Mike Eastwood, current senior vice-president of corporate finance. Bello will oversee strategy and business development into 2021.

Neil Masterson and Brian Peccarelli will continue in their roles as joint chief operating officers.
