Ex-Flamingo team form new business in China

CHINA – A number of former Flamingo Shanghai employees have launched a cultural insights company, Inner Chapter.

The new independent venture is led by the former co-CEOs of Flamingo in China, Julien Lapka and Alex Wilson, and will offer cultural insights to commercial IP across insights, strategy, innovation and creative content.

The business soft launched a few months ago, and early projects have included brand creation, incubation and design for a start-up, scenario planning for a mobility client, audience and retail strategy for a fashion label and user research and documentary film for a global tech company.

The company has flexible ways of working with clients as well as commissioned projects.

Flamingo closed seven of its eight overseas offices in 2016 – Shanghai being one of them – with Omnicom saying it had "decided to close under-performing offices...to focus on growth in London". Omnicom acquired Flamingo in 2007.
