UK— TNS and sports broadcaster ESPN have launched a European version of the Sports Poll, a joint venture that measures the attitudes and behaviours of sports fans.
The service has been running in the US for the last 15 years and will now cover France, German, Italy, Spain and the UK, providing clients with information about the viewing and purchasing habits and event attendance of fans of more than 40 sports.
The survey will cover interest levels of the sports most common in each country, as well as US and emerging sports. Some questions will be tailored for clients from sectors such as financial services and consumer packaged goods so they can assess how their customers interact with sports.
ESPN senior vice president Artie Bulgrin said that international growth was a priority for the company and that the insights gathered from European results would help inform the broadcaster’s future decisions in the market.
