CityGrid buys media monitor BuzzLabs

US— Ad network CityGrid Media has acquired social media monitoring and sentiment analysis firm BuzzLabs.

CityGrid says the acquisition will let it aggregate and analyse millions of pieces of content across its network “including reviews, articles, blog posts, check-ins, likes and other real time streams of user-generated content”.

The result, CityGrid says, will be “an enormous repository of business sentiment, consumer insight and trending data for its publishers and million-plus merchants”.

BuzzLabs was founded in 2009 by former Microsoft executives Philip Lee and Dou Shen. Its technology will be integrated into the CityGrid platform over the next three to six months.

CityGrid is part of IAC, the company that owns Ask.com.
