The Census Bureau recently established the committee to assist in devising strategies to increase awareness of and participation in the next decennial census.

Vargas is chief executive officer at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) and non-profit organisation the NALEO Educational Fund.

Bates spent her career as a survey statistician/methodologist at the Census Bureau, where she was involved in designing and implementing the research programmes for the 2010 Census and 2020 Census. Before she retired in 2020, Nancy was the Bureau’s senior methodologist for survey research.

The committee will provide recommendations on planning and implementation of the 2030 Census, as well as reviewing and providing feedback related to census plans and execution.
