Marshall (pictured) has worked in technology for 15 years working for major companies such as Mitsubishi and Toyota. His previous role was at Grouptripper, which Marshall co-founded, and he is also an instructor at Codeworks, which he also graduated from in coding.

Big Sofa Technologies runs technology platforms to help insights firms analyse and understand video and audio. Last month the firm received a seven-figure investment, which it said it would use to expand the data and analysis capability of its video intelligence platform and make additional hires in the UK and US.

In the last two years, the company has launched behavioural data and analysis tool Lifestream and experiential data and analysis service Lifeshare.

Martin Chapman, chief technology officer at Big Sofa Technologies, said: “Alex’s arrival marks a big change for Big Sofa Technologies as the company follows Jeff Bezos’ advice on the ‘two pizza rule’, splitting the development resource into separate delivery teams.

“Alex’s credentials in product, service and coding make for a particularly relevant skill mix to add to our talented team.”
