UK – Swedish private equity group EQT Partners is considering bidding for Kantar, according to a report in the Telegraph.
The company is one of a number of private equity firms interested in the sale of the WPP-owned business, which is being led by Goldman Sachs.
A source told the Telegraph that EQT had yet to submit a formal bid.
Following the departure of chief executive Sir Martin Sorrell last year, WPP announced it was seeking a ‘financial or strategic partner’ for Kantar as the group looks to reduce its debt.
Analysts have previously valued Kantar at £3.5bn.
EQT has owned a majority stake in market research technology firm FocusVision since 2015. Last month, it was reported that it was exploring a sale of the business.
