CANADA – Consumer data firm Wavemaker Canada, part of WPP’s media investment management company GroupM, has named Ryan Webber as its chief executive for Canada.

Webber (pictured) will also serve on GroupM Canada’s executive committee as Wavemaker Canada’s representative, as well as taking a place on Wavemaker’s global board.

Before joining Wavemaker Canada, Webber was chief revenue officer at ILobby and spent five years until 2021 at SOTI, where he served as senior vice president of sales – Americas, Middle East and North Africa.

Louisa Wong, chief executive at Wavemaker Americas, said: “Ryan’s strengths are uniquely suited to this role – a passion for finding new ways to solve problems, an extraordinary emotional intelligence, and great commercial connections in the Canadian market.

“He embodies a leadership style that will empower, inspire, and coach an already high-performing and highly successful executive leadership team, helping them – and by extension, the passionate and dedicated agency they represent – align their plans with the overall business strategy and do their best work.”

Kevin Johnson, chief executive at GroupM Canada, said: “As we continue to build the agencies and industry of the future in Canada, I believe strongly that a critical part of that is to bring in different skillsets and cognitive diversity to empower innovation and new thinking. I’m excited to see that in action with Ryan’s perspective and leadership.”
