WPP ups investment in blog-watcher Visible

Venture capitalists Ignition Partners join marketing group in $12m funding round

US-- WPP has upped its investment in social media monitor Visible Technologies as part of a series B funding round.

The marketing services group and venture capitalists Ignition Partners together pumped $12m into the business, best known for its TruCast and TruView product offerings.

WPP made its first investment back in August last year, since when there has been an explosion of consumer interest around online networking and social media.

Mark Read, CEO of WPP Digital said this week: “The growth of social media and user generated content requires major companies to be increasingly concerned about their reputation online and to look for ways to track and manage it.

“Our clients are already seeing the benefits of Visible Technologies' technology solutions in tracking what is written about them online in blogs and other social media and in responding effectively.”

Visible said it would use the new funding to serve its customer base and to grow its product lines. The series B round marked Ignition's first investment in the company.

Ignition principal Michelle Goldberg has joined Visible's board of directors.
