Northstar creates internship programme, names first candidate

The Advanced Internship Programme (AIP) is intended to allow PhD students to put their academic skills to use in a business environment; the Department of Anthropology at London’s LSE has been named as the first department approached to take part. Candidates on the programme, which will be a flexible appointment up to a maximum of 12 months, will help Northstar to refine and develop social research.

The first successful candidate has been named as Jovan Scott Lewis, who specialises in the anthropology of economy and recently completed PhD fieldwork on the economic formation of citizenship in Jamaica.

Professor Charles Stafford from LSE’s Department of Anthropology said: “Our PhD students are some of the best young minds in social sciences in the UK.

“The AIP will enable them to take their knowledge in new directions.”
