Nielsen moves Meyer to Chinese role

Former DigitalPlus SVP made media MD

CHINA-- Nielsen has moved Jed Meyer to managing director of media services in Greater China.

Meyer was previously senior vice president of the firm's DigitalPlus service in the US where he was responsible for developing new client applications for digital set top box data.

In his new role he will oversee Nielsen's media businesses across China, Hong Kong and Taiwan and report to Mitch Barns, the firm's president for Greater China, as well as Asia Pacific media director Richard Basil-Jones.

Barns said: “Chinese consumers are increasingly taking up new media and there is no doubt China's online audience, including those viewing video online, will continue to grow.”

The firm is also in the process of establishing a new international research and development centre in the country.

Meyer has been replaced in the US by Manish Bhatia, who was installed as president of advanced digital services earlier this month.
