Recession bites hard for Marketing Intelligence

US— Arizona-based full-service research agency Marketing Intelligence will reportedly close its doors at the end of the month after just over a decade in business.

The firm, which was formed in 1999 by former University of Arizona Eller College of Management professor Kapil Jain and his business partner Chris Baker, has suffered as clients have reined in their spending during the recession.

Chris Baker, the firm’s lead researcher told Inside Tucson Business: “We have had a rough time during the economic downturn. Though we were pretty well diversified in terms of clients and industries, everyone is cutting back on marketing and research.”

Baker is set to join local advertising research agency Communicus as research director following the closure, according to the paper.

Calls to the firm’s office had not been returned at the time of publication.
