Google partners with Knowledge Networks for Screenwise panel

US— Google is working with Knowledge Networks to build a panel of web users who will allow the company to track what sites they visit and how they use them.

Participation in the Screenwise panel requires people aged over 13 to create a Google account and download an extension for the company’s own Chrome browser.

Google says it is keen “to learn more about how everyday people use the internet”.

“What we learn from you, and others like you, will help us improve Google products and services and make a better online experience for everyone,” the company says.

The sign-up process appears to be on hold temporarily, however. The Screenwise landing page reports that Google has been “overwhelmed by your interest at the moment”.
