Ex-Labour Party advisor sets up Red Circle

Steven Lawther launches research and communications agency

UK-- Former Labour Party advisor Steven Lawther has launched Red Circle – an Edinburgh-based research and communications agency serving the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Lawther spent the last six years providing polling and communications advice to the party, helping to co-ordinate its research programme and moderating focus groups.

From 2006, he was head of communications for the Scottish Labour Party, but quit just months before May's parliamentary elections, which the SLP lost to the Scottish National Party.

Summing up his time with Labour, Lawther said: “It was not so much a job as a way of life. I needed a new challenge which would fit better into my family situation.”

Red Circle, he said, would take a more consultative approach to research that would set it apart from its rivals.

“There is quality research everywhere in the UK,” said Lawther, “but I will offer more by directly working in partnership with clients to show what their research actually means to them and how they can effectively respond to it.”

His last stint in an agency was with US pollsters Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research during the 2004 presidential election.
