CHINA— United Business Media has agreed to acquire UM Paper, a firm specialising in providing analytics and information about the global forest products industry, from its owner Samwell Group.
UBM, which is making the purchase on behalf of its RISI paper industry intelligence business, will pay an initial cash consideration of $440,000 with another payment of $440,000 linked to performance over the next two years.
UM Paper is based in Shanghai and offers paper industry information and pricing intelligence, such as regional and historic trends. The firm’s clients include companies such as plant operators, box and envelope makers, publishers and printers.
Samwell Group’s Elaine Zhang will stay on as a senior adviser once the deal is complete and the acquisition is expected to add approximately $300,000 to UBM revenues in 2010.
