US — Steve Hasker has been appointed global president and chief operating officer at Nielsen, effective from 1 January.
His new role is in addition to his existing responsibilities of heading the US media business and product teams for the consumer and media businesses. Hasker will now be in charge of all commercial activities across Nielsen’s Watch and Buy segments globally.
Prior to joining Nielsen in 2009, Hasker worked at McKinsey & Company where he was a partner in its Global Media, Entertainment and Information practice.
Mitch Barns, CEO, Nielsen said: “Steve has made significant and crucial contributions to our business – the most recent of which is his stewardship of our Total Audience framework. His ability to look across a landscape and understand not only the complexity but also the opportunity is key to our business and that of our clients.”
