SymphonyIRI appoints Appel as new CEO

US— Andrew Appel has been appointed president and chief executive officer at SymphonyIRI, replacing John Freeland who has moved to an interim role until his retirement later this year.

Appel (pictured) joins the retail market research specialist from Accretive Health where he was SVP of revenue operations.

Previously he worked as chief operating officer at Chicago-based professional services firm Aon and as a senior partner at McKinsey & Company.

Freeland, who will retire at the end of 2012, has been given the role of executive vice chairman.

Sorry for such a late "CONGRATULATIONS" on your new position, Andy. I just discovered this website. I use to get this info via snail mail. Major cutbacks, I know. Been with this company throughout all the changes for 20 years. Can you believe when I actually started with this company I had to literally write all the displays on paper?! Hope to the High Almighty you change the the pay rate schedule. Most of my stores I get the minimum wage....work 5 hours but get paid fo4 2 hours because of scan rate. Most I love about the job is working my own time schedule but lately that has charged because when a hire quits, it's added to my schedule
