Visual Sciences is the new WebSideStory

Merged firms to operate under single name • ‘Web' tag dropped as analytics focus broadens

WebSideStory has rebranded itself under the name of Visual Sciences, the company it acquired in February 2006.

The firm said the change of name reflects a broadening of its focus from web analytics, to encompass analysis of other points of contact such as call centres and retail points of sale.

Visual Sciences CEO Jim MacIntyre said: “Our clients ultimately need a comprehensive view of their customers, not only the slice that comes from the web.”

The company is currently embroiled in a patent infringement dispute with online audience researcher NetRatings, which sued WebSideStory in February last year, only to be countersued less than three weeks later.

A separate lawsuit by NetRatings against Visual Sciences was settled in October 2005, before the firm merged with WebSideStory.
