Trendstream to examine social media impact

Twice-yearly survey launched to track 16,000 users worldwide

UK-- Social media research consultancy Trendstream has launched a twice-yearly survey to examine the use and impact of social media around the world.

The Global Web Index will focus on how social media is being adopted by 16,000 consumers in the UK, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, India, China, South Korea, Australia and Japan.

Lightspeed Research will carry out fieldwork for the survey through its online panel. The first wave of data will be delivered in June.

Subscribers can view user data by demographic, media usage and attitudinal profile information. They can also customise the index by becoming a brand partner, which gives them access to users' data brand awareness, usage purchase intent and propensity to recommend.

Trendstream managing director Tom Smith said: “The Global Web Index fills a knowledge gap in the market by providing advertisers, agencies and marketers with the insight to really understand what their target audience actually do online. This is crucial to quantify the true impact of social media and the consumer-driven web.”
