Trajectory Partnership takes the long view on global tourism

Forecasting firm wins UN project on future tourism trends

UK-- Forecasting agency Trajectory Partnership has won a high-profile project from the United Nations to identify future trends in global tourism – less than three months into operations.

Trajectory – which was launched in September by Future Foundation co-founder Michael Willmott, its former CEO Paul Flatters and Chris Farmelo, an ex-Henley Centre MD – clinched the business following a competitive pitch.

Called ‘Future Vision: Tourism Towards 2030', the project will provide an update to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation's (UNWTO) ‘Tourism 2020 Vision' study.

“Tourism Towards 2030 is a cornerstone of our view of the future,” said UNWTO assistant secretary-general Geoffrey Lipman. “It is a body of work that will be used and relied upon by thousands of private and public sector operators within the tourism sector over the next decade.”

Trajectory's Flatters added: “Tourism as a sector faces a very complex mix of social, economic and geo-political trends over both the short and long-term. We know how important programmes such as this are in the successful development of new business models and services.”
