Tobii eye-trackers for 3D store simulations

Manufacturer to supply 50 eye-trackers to Red Dot Square in its biggest order

SWEDEN-- In the biggest single order it has handled, Swedish eye-tracking firm Tobii is to supply 50 eye-trackers to the UK's Red Dot Square, which uses 3D computer simulations for retail research.

The devices, which are incorporated into monitors, will mostly be installed at Red Dot Square's field locations in the US. They will be used to track where research participants are looking as they browse a virtual store, allowing Red Dot Square to record the amount of attention attracted by products, signage and other store features.

Tobii CEO Henrik Eskilsson said: “This order proves the huge interest we have been experiencing for our products in retail and shopping applications over the recent years… We see a great potential in this segment in the years to come.”

Red Dot Square works for clients including Wal-Mart, Target and Tesco, as well as manufacturers including Unilever and General Mills.
