TiVo trebles Stop Watch panel size

DVR data collection service to reach 300,000 households

US-- DVR maker TiVo will treble the size of its Stop Watch ratings service to 300,000 households this summer.

The Stop Watch service anonymously collects second-by-second and time-shifted viewing data from households that own TiVo's digital video recorders. The firm then sells the data to advertisers, agencies and broadcasters.?

Todd Juenger, vice president and general manager of TiVo audience research and measurement said: “The demand for access to this granular level of viewing data across previously unmeasured cable networks is a driving force behind our decision to increase our sample size in the coming months.”

The firm increased the size of the panel from 20,000 to 100,000 households last November.

Juenger said the increase would allow TiVo to “cast a much wider net and deliver critical measurement and accountability for lesser-viewed television networks”.
