Ten jobs go at Dr Foster Intelligence

Healthcare information firm makes cuts as it merges social marketing, research and project management teams

UK-- Healthcare information provider Dr Foster Intelligence has made 10 redundancies as part of an ongoing shake-up, reports Health Service Journal.

The job losses, made last week, affected people working in social marketing, research and project management. The three teams are being merged into one central department. The move comes as many parts of the NHS are beefing up their social marketing functions.

Social marketing is listed on the Dr Foster website as one of the main services that it provides under the framework for procuring external support for healthcare commissioners. Dr Foster Intelligence said the changes will remove overlapping roles and provide a clearer focus on commissioning and health inequalities.

A spokeswoman for the company said: “The new team will provide a more joined-up approach to the services we offer around commissioning, such as social marketing, research and bespoke analysis. In 2009, Dr Foster Intelligence will concentrate on helping commissioners tackle world-class commissioning and the challenges of health inequalities.”

By the end of this year the company will have created more than 25 new jobs, she added.
