Synovate lays off 88 at Miami call centre

Global agency blames interviewer job cuts on economic climate

US-- Synovate is closing a call centre in Miami with the loss of 88 jobs.

The centre will close in March, with 86 interviewers, a full-time supervisor and a full-time human resources coordinator laid off.

The firm said it will be keeping a small team of seven employees at another location in Miami.

Greg Ouimet, the firm's global director of data collection, blamed the lay-offs on the economic climate, according to the Miami Herald. He said a review of its North American call centres had led to the decision to close the Miami facility while keeping centres in California and Iowa.
