Skarzynski moves Arbitron HQ to Maryland

CEO wants executives to be closer to key operations teams in Columbia

US-- Arbitron chief executive Michael Skarzynski has moved the radio ratings firm's headquarters from New York to Columbia, Maryland in a bid to be closer to the agency's centre of operations.

Around 71 percent of the company's full-time workforce are based in Maryland, overseeing survey research, engineering and data collection and production.

Skarzynski said in a statement: “It's important for me and our executives to work in the same location as the teams who are creating new solutions for our current customers and new services for our expanding markets.”

All but one of the company's executive staff will make the move to Maryland. The New York City office will remain open and continue to operate as a sales office, Arbitron said.

A spokesman for the firm said there had been no mass transfer of staff and no job losses as a direct result of the relocation.

Skarzynski has set about reshaping the upper echelons of the research firm since taking over as CEO in January.
