Researcher input wanted for ISER survey
UK-- The University of Essex's Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER) is asking researchers for input into its major UK social research project, Understanding Society.
ISER has designed what it calls the Innovation Panel to test and trial questions for the survey, and wants researchers to submit proposals for experiments with either the design of survey instruments, fieldwork or to address methodological issues for Wave 3 of the project, which starts in 2010.
Peter Lynn, professor of survey methodology at ISER, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for researchers with an interest in this area to get involved with and influence this ground-breaking survey, which is not only the most ambitious study of its kind, but is also providing an opportunity for major advancements in survey methodology.”
The survey, which will interview 100,000 people from 40,000 households, replaces the British Household Panel Survey, which had been running since 1991 and has been billed by the organisers as the largest piece of social research conducted in the UK.
