Quantcast seeks MRC accreditation

Web audience measurement firm to undergo audit by ratings body

US-- Web measurement firm Quantcast has committed to accreditation by the Media Rating Council (MRC).

The San Francisco company claims to offer the first “open internet ratings service” and says its free Quantified Publisher programme provides traffic data and audience profiling for more than 10 million websites, blogs, online games and videos.

Quantcast's system uses a ‘hybrid' approach, combining census-based measurement with panel data from third parties.

CEO Konrad Feldman said: “Our participation in the MRC accreditation process is part and parcel of our commitment to deliver accurate and trusted data to our growing publisher and marketer community.”

Web measurement giants NetRatings and ComScore are also undergoing MRC audits.
