Polls reborn on Facebook as interactive ads

Social network lets advertisers use single-question polls to engage site users

US-- Following the demise of Facebook Polls, the social network site is now offering advertisers ‘polling ads', allowing them to ask questions and provide results in a bid to engage site users.

Members who take part in polls are shown overall results as well as how their friends voted. The new polling ads join the various other types of interactive ads already offered by the social network site.

The first firm to use the service is job site CareerBuilder, which has incorporated polling ads into its Super Bowl campaign, asking participants to predict who they think will win this year's game.

Facebook recently pulled its self service polling tool through which users could post a single-question poll, paying according to the number of responses they wanted and how quickly they wanted the results.

The new service is aimed at larger advertisers and is being handled by Facebook's ad sales team.
