North America People

US— Statistical software maker Revolution Analytics has hired David Rich as chief executive, replacing Norman Nie (pictured) who remains an advisor to the company.

Nie, the founder of research software firm SPSS (now owned by IBM), joined Revolution in October 2009 to replace departing founder Richard Schultz.

He will continue to work with new boss Rich as an adviser on products and strategy. Revolution designs software using the open source programming language ‘R’ to help statisticians create predictive models.

Rich comes to the firm after 28 years with Accenture, latterly as global managing director of its analytics practice.

Nie said of his successor: “Revolution Analytics is primed for a different set of proven leadership abilities – someone with the knowledge and relationships to accelerate large-scale adoption of the company’s first-class products.”
