IMS Health hires chief privacy officer

US— Kimberly Gray has joined healthcare data firm IMS as chief privacy officer. She will be responsible for ensuring privacy laws are complied with in the company’s activities in the US, Canada and Latin America.

Gray joins from health insurance company Highmark where she held the same role. She has also sat on the board of directors at the Health Information Trust Alliance and the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Bill Nelligan, IMS president for the Americas, said: “With federal policy rapidly moving toward greater healthcare transparency and the use of information to improve quality and treatment outcomes, it is imperative that patient privacy remains sacrosanct.”
