NETHERLANDS— Former Millward Brown regional CEO Jan Oostveen has been appointed director general of the European Federation of Associations of Market Research Organisations (Efamro) – an association of associations.

He replaces Lex Olivier who has stepped down after six years in the role. Olivier, a former CEO of Research International in the Netherlands, was a founding board member of Efamro in 1994 and is currently ombudsman of Dutch market research association MOA.

Oostveen (pictured), himself previously chairman of MOA’s research agency section, was chief executive of Millward Brown in northwest Europe until May 2010 and had worked for the company since 1991.

Efamro president Stig Holmer said: “Jan’s appointment comes at a time for change for Efamro. Over the last two years we have increased our work in supporting our member associations and in representing the European research sector. Our goal must be to build on this work, to provide a strong platform representing all stakeholders in the European research sector.”

Member associations are ADM (Germany), ANEIMO (Spain), APODEMO (Portugal), MOA (Netherlands), MRS (UK), NMF (Norway), SMIF (Sweden) and SMTL (Finland).
