Danny Russell to leave Sky amid marketing restructure

UK— Sky’s marketing strategy director Danny Russell is leaving the company as it restructures its sales and marketing teams, with Lucien Bowater taking on the new role of strategy and insight director.

Russell, who has been with the broadcaster for 13 years, also serves as vice chair of research client body Aura.

The restructure will see sales and marketing MD Stephen Van Rooyen lead three new business units: trading, brand management and strategic support. Research operations will be brought together in the new strategic support services group, with customer marketing director Lucien Bowater becoming strategy and insight director and Andrew Mortimer remaining as director of brand and media.

Sky did not say whether Russell’s departure was a direct result of the restructure.

Russell previously worked as planning manager at British Airways, research manager at Kraft Jacobs Suchard and research manager at Kraft Foods.

Research was unable to reach Russell for further comment today.
