New president takes helm at Canada's MRIA

David Stark replaces John Ball at industry association

CANADA-- David Stark has started his tenure as president of the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association (MRIA).

Stark, who is vice president of public affairs at TNS Canadian Facts and privacy officer for TNS North America, takes over from John Ball, the chief operating officer of IFOP North America.

Writing in the MRIA's Vue magazine, Stark said Ball would be a “tough act to follow” and laid out his five main priorities for his spell at the head of the association.

During his term, Stark said he wants to update the MRIA's Standards and Gold Seal certification program, set up regular communication with the government through Vue magazine, conduct more webinars on legal compliance, establish an MRIA privacy officers forum and increase the association's use of Web 2.0 technology.

He also said that in the current financial climate, he and the association's directors would be focusing on “containing costs without compromising the quality and breadth of services”.
