New business keeps Creston growing

Insight and communications group reports 4% growth in pre-close statement

UK-- Research agency owner Creston grew by 4% in the year ended 31 March, bringing total revenue to around £84m, the group said today in a pre-close trading statement.

The group's statement said its “strong” performance was driven by new business, which had “more than compensated for general market softness”. New business for this financial year will account for £15m of revenue, up from £9m in the previous year.

Creston has said it is looking to its insight businesses – ICM, Marketing Sciences and qual specialist CML – to provide the stability to help it weather the current recession.

In November it warned of “underperformance” at its smaller research firms CML and MSTS (which was since incorporated into Marketing Sciences), but said in February that trading at the two larger firms was “robust”.

It expects to announce preliminary results on 23 June.
