NatCen scoops £1.25m charity contract

Social researcher to evaluate impact of youth volunteering

UK-- The National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) has been awarded a £1.25m contract by youth volunteering charity V.

NatCen will conduct a range of qual and quant studies to evaluate the impact of the charity's funding on volunteering organisations, the people involved with them and the communities they operate in.

The organisation will additionally survey young people aged 16-25 to gauge their perception of V and volunteering.

Surveys will be carried out twice a year until 2011 and NatCen will also act as a consultancy to assess the effectiveness of V as an organisation and look at the impact it has had on the charity sector as a whole.

NatCen beat seven other applicants to clinch the contract.
