Mindshare, Initiative make strategic moves

Media shops fill research and strategy roles in the US

US-- Mindshare has promoted Tim Elton, the current head of its Business Planning unit, to chief strategist of the Invention group.

The group is tasked with combining brand and consumer insights to develop communication ideas that create relevancy for consumers around the world.

Globally the Invention group is led by George Michaelides and Graham Bednash working out of Mindshare's London office. In New York the unit is co-headed by David Lang and Margaret Clerkin.

Meanwhile, at rival media shop Initiative, Shane Ankeney has been appointed executive vice president and managing director US, responsible for planning, research and strategy.

He comes to the Interpublic Group company from Omnicom's TBWA\Chiat\Day where he was executive director, audience planning and media arts.
