Millward Brown buys IMS Group

Millward Brown has acquired Ireland's largest full service market research firm, the Irish Marketing Surveys Group.

The group operates three companies: Irish Marketing Surveys and Lansdowne Market Research based in Dublin, and Ulster Marketing Surveys based in Belfast.

It reported a turnover of €17m (£13m) last year and employs 130 full-time staff.

The Irish Marketing Surveys division is to renamed Millward Brown IMS, while Ulster Marketing Surveys will become Millward Brown Ulster.

Lansdowne Market Research will continue to operate under the same name.

The existing structure and local management personnel of the group will continue unchanged.

Sharon Potter, joint MD of Millward Brown UK, described Ireland as a rapidly expanding market where Millward Brown's UK operations already conduct over €4m (£2.5m) of business.

"Having a local presence will enable us to extend Millward Brown products and services to Ireland," she said.
