Kantar Media buys web measurement tech partner Spring

AI Europe M&A

GERMANY— Kantar Media has acquired Spring, a long-time “friend of the family” whose internet measurement technology is already deployed in a number of Kantar services.

Spring’s tools are designed for both site-centric and user-centric internet measurement, as well as online research and analysis.

Clients include Deutsche Telekom, Ligatus, Net-Metrics and INFOnline. Kantar uses its technology in internet measurement services in Austria, Germany, Norway, Singapore and Switzerland, and for its ‘VirtualMeter’ technology that measures online TV.

Kantar Media Audiences CEO Richard Marks said: “Spring has been a ‘friend of the family’ for a number of years. In joining Kantar Media, Spring will complement our technology portfolio perfectly.”

Spring’s team will continue to be based out of Saarlouis in Germany, with the management team of Christopher Wirtz and Oliver Pischke reporting in to Kantar Media Audience’s global strategy and development director, Isabel Serrano.

The company was founded in 1995 as a spin-off of the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
